24th and Mission

A vibrant, Mission-District-inspired identity program for a quick service pre-security taqueria at SFO.

WHAT WE DID

Background

Many of the food establishments at SFO are about touting San Francisco’s coolest trends in taste to dazzle visitors. The difference with 24th & Mission is that it took it right down to the street corner. A fictional kind of place was to become an airport emblem for the taqueria-rich Mission neighborhood and The Engine Room was tasked with creating a look that called out to antsy travelers in the pre-security food court.

Approach

Pre-security is the toughest location for a restaurant in the airport because travelers’ number one objective is to get through the stressful part before they exhale and eat. So this identity had to grab attention and charm. We developed a look with a colorful, hand-drawn, mission-inspired aesthetic that felt inviting and projected authenticity.
